Warner Bros.' The Little Things topped the box office this weekend with $4.8 million, while fans at home can also watch the film on HBO Max.
The studio announced in December that all of their 2021 movies will not only be released in theaters, but also simultaneously on WarnerMedia's HBO Max. streaming service as well.
The Little Things, starring a trio of Oscar winners - Denzel Washington, Jared Leto and Rami Malek, earned the highest debut for an R-rated thriller since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last March, according to Deadline.

The debut managed to best other 'old guy thrillers' that have debuted since the pandemic shuttered many theaters across the country.
Its $4.8M debut bested Russell Crowe's Unhinged ($4M), Open Road Films' The Honest Thief ($4M) and The Marksman ($3.1M), both starring Liam Neeson, and Universal's News of the World ($2.25M) starring Tom Hanks.
The Little Things earned its $4.8M from 2,171 theaters, good for a meager $2,210 per-screen average in its opening weekend.

While many theaters across the country are still closed - like Los Angeles, whose theaters have been shut down since mid-March, others are re-opening.
Movie theaters in Chicago and greater Illinois opened this weekend, with theaters in Boston set to open on Monday, at 25% capacity, for the first time since December.
Seattle is expected to re-open some theaters next weekend also, though theaters in two of the most important markets have yet to open wide.
